A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the Big Island of Hawaii until 5pm. At 2:02pm, Radar indicated heavy rain moving onshore from the East and Southeast. Rainfall will spread across the Puna and Ka’u districts for the next several hours as the center of Darby approaches the Big Island. Locations in the warning include (but are not limited to): Hilo, Pahoa, Mt. View, Glenwood, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood Valley, Pahala, Naalehu, and Kaawa Flats.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent, occurring in streams, roads, and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.”
