Hurricane Katrina Kokua
MUCHO MAHALO: Much mahalos to all who gave on Friday as KWXX, B976 and KPUA broadcast all day from 6am to 6pm, taking donations for disaster relief for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Your generosity resulted in approximately 29-thousand-200 dollars raised for the American Red Cross Katrina Relief Fund! Again, we’d like to thank KTA Superstores, Pacific Sound Company, Instant Sign Centers and the American Red Cross.
All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief.

636.5-pound Pacific Blue Marlin caught Wednesday on the Tara II by HIBT Team Malindi Fishing Club of Kenya. 15 year old Brian Reece (Grandfather in his 33rd HIBT) took only 40min to bring home this Giant Pacific Blue.

Tracy was on the Big Island for the Childrens Miracle Network and the Golf Channel. Even G. Cruz was star struck, "How often do you get a major country artist stop by!"

OVER A THOUSAND PENNIES TO SAVE SOUTH EAST ASIA!
Kat & Keala, along with 35 2nd grade students, teachers and kupuna from Keaukaha Elementary School.
KWXX, was proud to accept $135.00 for the American Red Cross, that was collected by the 2nd graders of Keaukaha School in pennies to send to the tsunami victims in South East Asia. The students were treated to a tour around the KWXX studios/offices and had a chance to sing and talk story on the air with Kat & Keala LIVE on the radio. MAHALO NUI LOA E NA KEIKI!

30 years ago a bunch of young guys wrote some songs and recorded an album, 30 years later those songs are as popular as ever. "Great songs live forever!" Kalapana and Cecilio & Kapono took the stage and put on a awsome concert to almost 2000 people.

RELAY FOR LIFE
With over $184,000.00 raised this year for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. It was a great night of music, dancing, stories and more! KWXX, KPUA, and B97 major sponsors since the events creation in Hilo about 10 years ago. G Cruz, DC (from B97), Kat, Keoni Johnson and Chris Leonard (General Manager) spent the night MCing and having a blast with some great weather for this years Relay for Life.

UH Rainbow Wahine Superstar Lily Kahumoku stopped by the KWXX studios along with Hilo boy Ryan Tsuji the UH Rainbow Wahine Manager to promote their Mok-Tsu Volleyball Camp. Mahalo to Lily and Ryan along with the other UH Volleyball team members giving back to the community thru camps like these. Lily, a UH Senior graduates this December and is playing pro-volleyball.
