The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Monday, November 2, at 5:24 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 46,643,798      Worldwide deaths:  1,202,081

U.S. cases: 9,213,002   U.S. deaths:  231,011

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 447,711  in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 4,887.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 82,520 cases in the last 24 hours.  In the last day,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 425.

The United States has the most cases in the world, followed by India, Brazil, Russia, France, and Spain.  Click on the attached map to enlarge it and see the counts in other countries.

According to Fox News, CNN, and the CDC,  hospitalizations in many states are at record highs.  Although more than 231,000 people have died from COVID-19, the death rate overall is lower as doctors, nurses, and hospitals have learned more about treating COVID-19.  But there is still concern about the number of people needing hospitalization, as hospital capacity in several states is getting stressed, and the people to staff the hospitals are under stress as well.

Hawaii has 15,154 total COVID-19 cases with approximately 3,111 active cases.

The state is reporting 219 deaths.  The Big Island has lost 48 people to COVID-19, according to Hilo Medical Center, Kona Community Hospital, Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home, and Life Care Center of Hilo, which have been regularly releasing the number of people in those facilities with COVID-19 and the deaths from the virus.

The Big Island has 1,300 people with COVID-19 in total, with approximately 349 active cases.  The island added 26 cases on Sunday.  The County is offering free drive-through COVID-19 testing today at Keauhou Shopping Center and at Afook Chinen Auditorium, both from 9 until noon.  It’s not necessary to have symptoms to get tested.
