This February, military units are scheduled to conduct essential training activities at Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA).
Training can occur 24 hours a day, seven days a week on PTA in the restricted airspace. Protecting the health of the force and the community continue to be the Army’s top priority as Hawaiʻi service members maintain mission readiness. All mission essential training requires adherence to Department of Defense and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding safety and physical distancing, to include the wearing of masks and frequent sanitization.
Essential training is subject to change based on safety, weather and other environmental factors. Weather, such as overcast conditions can increase noise and vibrations. Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger.
The planned February training schedule is as follows:
Feb. 2-27- Army and Marine Helicopter Gunnery
Feb. 4-6- Hawaiʻi Army National Guard Small Arms Training
Feb. 21- No Training; Federal holiday
Feb. 22-March 18- Army and Marine Small Arms Training
Feb. 22-March 31- Unmanned Aerial Systems Training The following military convoys are planned during February:
Feb. 11-16- 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Kawaihae Harbor to PTA
There are no hunting dates currently planned for February. If the situation changes, an additional advisory will be published.
