Manu Powers officially announced her candidacy for Hawai‘i County Council District 7.

Hawai‘i County District 7 includes parts of Holualoa, Honalo, Kahalu‘u-Keauhou, and the majority of Kailua-Kona including Historic Kailua Village

The Powers’ campaign will focus on several key priorities, including:

  • Advancing creative housing solutions that prioritize local families
  • Addressing affordability to help local residents remain in West Hawai‘i communities
  • Strengthening infrastructure while protecting natural resources
  • Supporting small businesses and local agriculture
  • Promoting safe, healthy, and thriving communities grounded in cultural respect

Kona Councilmember Rebecca Villegas, who has served four consecutive elected terms and is termed out from running for another term, has endorsed Powers.

Manu Powers was raised in Kalapana and is a longtime small business owner in Kailua-Kona. She currently serves as President of the Daughters of Hawai‘i and participates on numerous local boards and committees focused on community and cultural stewardship including the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, Queen Liliʻuokalani Trust Community Advisory Group, Mayor Alameda’s Flood Mitigation Task Force, Healy Foundation, Ke Kai Ala Foundation, and the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade Committee.
