Hawaiʻi County DUI Statistics: June 1-7

During the week of June 1, through June 7, 2026, Hawai`i Island police arrested 13 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident, while one of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far in 2026, there have been 343 DUI arrests compared with 406 during the same period in 2025, a decrease of 15.52 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 428 major crashes so far this year, compared with 449 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 4.68 percent.

As of June 7, there have been 14 fatal crashes, resulting in 16 fatalities compared with 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities for the same time last year. This is an increase of 16.67 percent for fatal crashes and 23.08 percent for fatalities.

In 2026, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
