Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of July 6

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of July 6, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

KANOELEHUA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO TO VOLCANO 

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of new striping and pavement markers. 

 

VOLCANO 

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 28 to 30, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HECO to remove old poles and conductors. 

 

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

CAPTAIN COOK TO HOLUALOA  

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 109 to 119, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Kuakini Highway, from Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers. 

 

MAMAHALOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

PAHALA 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 40 to 42, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass. 

 

NAALEHU 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 69.5 to 71, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and cutting the grass. 

  

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/BAYFRONT HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

 

HILO  

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue/Bayfront Highway (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 0.8 to 2.3, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive and Waianuenue Avenue, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping. 

 

  HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

HILO 

Single lane closure on Bayfront Highway/Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 2.6, in the vicinity of Pauahi Street and Pukihae Street, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass. 

 

NINOLE  

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 17.9 to 18.2, in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Stream Bridge. 

 

OOKALA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 29.2 to 32, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge. 

 

 QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

 

KAILUA-KONA  

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 96.8 to 99.4, in the vicinity of Honokohau Street and Palani Road, Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for replacing pavement markers. 

  

 KEAAU PAHOA ROAD/PAHOA BYPASS ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

KEAAU TO PAHOA 

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 21.8, in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Kaimu-Chain of Craters Road, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers. 

 

 

PAHOA 

Single lane closure on Pahoa Bypass Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 11, in the vicinity of Kahakai Boulevard, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing the grass. 

 

 

PAHOA 

Single lane closure on Pahoa Bypass Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 11.5, in the vicinity of Post Office Road, on Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work. 

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

KALAOA  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 30 to 35, in the vicinity of Huehue Ranch Road and Onaona Drive, Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work. 

 

 DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200) 

 

UPPER WAIAKEA 

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200), possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 19.5, thru Friday, July 10 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for emergency safety improvements on the roadway. KAWAIHAE 

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270), possible in either direction between mile post 4 to 6, on Saturday, July 4 to Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.
