(AP) — Officials say a Maui resident last month launched the only Hawaiʻi-based, locally owned ride-share company in the state. Holoholo CEO Cecil Morton has been in the transportation business in Hawaiʻi for 20 years as owner of SpeediShuttle. He told The Maui News last weekend that his daughter came up with the name and that it means let’s go cruising. Holoholo launched on May 24 and includes a community of drivers and vehicles that riders can request from their smartphones. It is similar to taxis, car rentals and other ride-sharing companies. Users can now request rides and check pricing online or with their phones.
