The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Hawaiʻi Island through the end of day today. Northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph are expected. The following areas may be impacted; North and South Kohala, Hamakua, Hilo, Kau and island interiors.

Winds this strong can bring down tree branches and may also cause utility outages to occur.

Loose outdoor items should be secured and motorists are urged to drive with caution during the duration of the advisory.
