Hawai‘i Island police are asking the public to help them locate a red Fecon brand mulcher attachment that was stolen from an excavator owned by the State Department of Transportation Highways Division in Hāmākua.  The mulcher’s estimated value is $45,000.

The theft occurred on the shoulder of Highway 19 near the 45 mile marker sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 25 and Monday, August 29, at 8:00 a.m.

Police ask anyone with information regarding theft activity or the location of the mulcher to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Paul Isotani via email at paul.isotani@hawaiicounty.gov.
