Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of December 9

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of December 9, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/VOLCANO HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

KURITSTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 9.6 to 9.7, in the vicinity of Huina Road, Tuesday, Dec. 10 through Thursday, Dec. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. for maintaining crosswalks and pavement markings.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 13 and 16, vicinity of South Kulani Road and North Kopua Road, Monday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:01 p.m. for maintaining crosswalks and pavement markings.

KEOKEA-HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 115 to 116, in the vicinity of Walua Road, Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD/KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 7 to 8, in the vicinity of Hajime Lane and Indian Tree Road, Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONOMU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 13.5 to 13.9, in the vicinity of Honomu Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, Wednesday, Dec. 11 through Thursday, Dec. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

PAAUILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 30.5 to 30.7, in the vicinity of Kupapaulua Bridge, Monday, Dec. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

 KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 4 to 6, in the vicinity of Shower Drive and Orchidland Drive, Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in eiether direction between mile post 12 to 17, on Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation control.

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAPAAU

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 13 to 17 in the vicinity of Iki Road, Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday Dec.13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Improvements.
