Flash Flood Warning issued for Hawaii County until 10:15pm.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Hawaii County until 10:15pm.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, flooding and significant run-off oreported forthe Hamakua Coast. One lane open on Hwy 19 near Paauilo Post Office. Paauilo Gym now open as a shelter.

At 7:17pm HST Radar indicated heavy rain across numerous areas within Hamakua, Hilo, Puna and Kau districts. Rainfall rates up to two inches per hour are noted and the areas of heavy rain are nearly stationary. Locations in the warning include but are not limited to: Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Honoka’a, Honomu, Kea’au, Waimanu Valley, Waipio Valley, Pahoa, Pepeekeo, Pahala and Glenwood.

This warning may be extended beyond 10:15pm if heavy rain persists.
