Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness has revealed he was diagnosed with HIV when he was a 25-year-old hair stylist.
In his memoir, Over the Top, which is due out Tuesday, Van Ness writes: “That day was just as devastating as you would think it would be.” Van Ness told The NY Times in an interview published Saturday that he is healthy now and regards himself as a “member of the beautiful H.I.V.-positive community.”
Van Ness, 32, retweeted a link of the Times article on Saturday, which you can view here. He also wrote in an Instagram post: “Having the opportunity to write my book and share my story with you is the most important opportunity I’ve ever had…..Thanks so much for your support so far, it means the world.”
