Hawaii State Department of Health has provided additional data about the current COVID-19 testing, which was released at noon today.  Just over 16,000 tests have been run by all the laboratories in the state, with 15,612 being negative, and 440 being positive.  In addition, 18 tests were inconclusive.  In the Wednesday media briefing, Lt. Governor Dr. Josh Green said he believed there were still about 500 tests that were still in the process of being tested.

In yesterday’s briefing, Dr. Green said the state would now test all individuals who had close contacts with those individuals who test positive, whether or not they have symptoms.  L. G. Dr. Green said he felt that was critical to help determine how many cases the state truly has.

There were 7 new cases since Wednesday.  All seven new positive tests were in adults.  The total positive case count since Feb. 28 is 442 cases.  Honolulu saw six (6) additional cases; Hawai’i Island has two (2) new cases; and Maui has three (3) new cases.   The information may be confusing since 6 +2+3 is 11 new cases, not 7.  But Department  of Health often finds cases and it’s not clear what the county of origin or residence is, so the case count per island reflects those literally new plus those reassigned  from “unclassified” to the county.

Additionally, for those really looking at the numbers, the number 440 under Positive Tests at the top under Laboratory Testing Data is not the same  as the positive case count of 442 because 2 residents were diagnosed outside Hawaii.

The rate of positive COVID-19 cases remains steady at 2.7% of tests.

Below is the complete data provided by the State Department of Health.
