The State of Hawaii Department of Health report for noon on Sunday, April 12 (Easter Sunday) shows that the state now has 499 cases.  Since Saturday, there have been 13 new COVID-19 cases reported.  Hawaii County now has 39 cases, 5 new since Saturday, according to the State Department of Health report.  Hawaii County’s increase is the highest in the state for this report.  In Hawaii County, DOH says 27 of those have been released from quarantine, so 12 are now active.

On Monday the State will release a new map detailing where cases are located, but as of the Monday, April 6 map, Kailua-Kona has had the most cases, with Hilo area second, and other cases scattered around the island.  The State also details the ages of the victims.  Right now, the age group 40-59 has the most victims, with 20-39 second, but the age group 60 and above has the highest percentage of hospitalizations at 20%.

Lana’i remains the only county in the state with no reported cases.

All 13 of the new positive cases reported today are adult Hawai‘i residents. The State DOH says that overall travel-related cases have decreased markedly, with continued increases in community-associated cases.   That highlights the need to stay at home, and if one must go to the store, to wear a mask to prevent spreading the disease.  It’s now well documented that some with COVID-19 have no or mild symptoms, and without universal testing, there is no way to know if somebody has it.  The mask will help prevent the wearer from unintentionally spreading COVID-19.

There were no new deaths reported since yesterday’s report of the ninth death in the state, of a 65-year-old female on O’ahu.  State DOH said she had been hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.

The below data includes laboratory testing data.
