Despite the restrictions on visitors coming into the state—a 14-day quarantine for everybody who arrives into any island, a form to track them, and now, a shutdown on Hawaii Island and Kaua’i of all vacation rentals—some visitors are still arriving.  On Sunday, April 13, five landed on the Big Island, 85 on O’ahu, and 1 on Maui.

In a conversation a week ago, Hawaii Island Visitor Bureau Executive Director Ross Birch, who at that time was greeting each visitor at the airport to gather their information, said visitors often include people from the mainland who have family on the island and are coming to stay. He said some have lost their mainland jobs.  The HTA updates do not give any detail about the visitors.

Now, the Hawaii National Guard is stationed at each airport, and as passengers arrive, they check temperatures and get their specific information. They also refer anybody with a fever to Hawaii Department of Health for additional testing.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority chart does not show interisland travel.
