The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Thursday morning, May 7, 2020, at 6:32 a.m.:

Worldwide cases 3,784,085   Worldwide deaths  264,679

U.S. cases 1,231,992      U. S. deaths  73,573

The United Kingdom, with a population of 66 million, has 202,359 cases, fourth after the U.S., Spain, and Italy, but has jumped in deaths to #2 in the world, with 30,150 deaths linked to COVID-19.  The United States population is estimated at 331 million.

Hawaii cases:  626   Hawaii deaths:  17

Hawaii Island cases:  74    Hawaii Island deaths:  0

In the state, there are 68 active cases, and State Health reports 8 active cases on Hawaii Island, meaning cases they are still monitoring as people recover.

Given the low single-digit increases for two weeks, Governor Ige has issued a “Safer at home” order allowing businesses to begin reopening–with precautions–starting today, as has Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim with his Emergency Rule No. 4.

Precautions include customers and employees wearing masks, staying 6 feet away from each other, and washing hands and cleaning surfaces.
