Hawaii started imposing a mandatory 14-day quarantine on all arrivals from out of state six weeks ago.  On Thursday, May 7, 638 passengers arrived in the state.  Kona had one Delta flight arriving from Los Angeles, with 16 residents, 18 visitors, and 9 “intended residents,” a category that has state legislators concerned.   All those leaving the airport–anybody but crew or those in transit– are subject to the quarantine.

The State Department of Transportation imposed a more rigorous passenger arrival process in late April, to help ensure arriving passengers are tracked, but lawmakers have expressed concern that it’s not rigorous enough.

The information is provided by the Hawaii Tourism Authority to the Hawaii COVID-19 Joint Information Center.
