Governor David Ige, in a Thursday afternoon press conference, said he plans to extend the 14-day quarantine for all travelers coming to the state.   He has not yet issued the order, and he did not address the issue of interisland travel.

There has been a lot of discussion by state officials in press conferences about ways to modify TSA processes to provide screening for travelers in advance of them getting on a plane to come to Hawaii, for flights from out of state.  U.S. Congressman Ed Case has asked the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to allow pre-boarding health checks for travelers coming to Hawaii.

Ige said the next order will include not just the quarantine extension but also extend the “safer at home” order asking everybody to stay home if possible–but that will include allowing more businesses to open.  Ige said he’s discussing matters with the Mayors.
