Hawaii County has the only new case of COVID-19 in the state, according to the State Department of Health’s noon report.  The state now has 638 cases, 565 of which are no longer active, so the State DOH is monitoring 73 people with active cases, including the newest on Hawaii Island.   The State DOH has not yet provided any additional information about the newest case.

A total of 38,995 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state.  On the Big Island, testing continues.  Anybody who has COVID-19 symptoms or has been exposed to somebody who tested positive should consult with their doctor or go to one of the testing sites, listed here.

The State has had a low number of additional cases of COVID-19 confirmed over the past two weeks, with none Thursday or last Friday, and in the low single digits on most days.  But even with a low case count, and the need, as Lt. Gov. Dr. Josh Green has said, to reopen the economy with “demon speed” — he also cautions that people must continue to physically distance and to wear cloth masks.  He reminds people that the purpose of the mask is to keep the wearer from possibly spreading the virus, so it is an act of aloha towards everybody else.
