Hawaii Island Food Basket will give away food today at Pahoa Community Center today from 10 until noon (or until the food is gone).

The next food distribution site is Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi on Monday, from 10 til noon (or until the food is gone).

Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht says most food pantries and community feeding locations throughout the island have closed because of COVID-19.  At these giveaway sites, people are asked to drive in and volunteers will put food in their cars to avoid person-to-person contact.  Everybody should still have face coverings or masks.

The demand has grown for the services of the Food Basket.  They welcome donations online at hawaiifoodbasket.org or via check to Hawaii Island Food Basket, 40 Holomua Street, Hilo, HI  96720.  Their phone number is 808-933-6030.
