The State Department of Health reports one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state, in Maui County.  That brings the state’s total to 643.  Maui County’s cumulative count is 118, with 105 released from isolation (13 active), O’ahu has 414 cumulative with 388 released (26 active), Kaua’i has 20 cumulative with none active according to Mayor Derek Kawakami but 1 active according to State DOH,  and 81 cumulative for Hawaii County, with 77 released fro isolation and 4 active cases.

Hawaii has 17 deaths, but none for more than 2 weeks.  Dr. Josh Green, the State’s Lieutenant Governor, says Hawaii has the lowest per capita deaths in the country.  He says the state also is doing well in testing, with 43,252⁣ tests so far.

Green is encouraging most businesses to begin reopening, subject to county regulations, and Mayors from Kaua’i, Maui County, and City and County of Honolulu have asked for and received concurrence from Gov. David Ige to have many businesses reopen.  Gov. Ige said earlier this week in press conferences that he’s considering letting interisland travel resume, and L.G. Green has said he’s encouraging moving forward with developing plans to do so by June 1.
