The Paʻauilo and Waiea Transfer Stations are closed today due to a shortage of manpower.  They are scheduled to reopen on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Household generated waste in the Paʻauilo community can be taken to the Honokaʻa Transfer Station, which is open today until 6:00 p.m.  Household generated waste in the Waiea community can be taken to the Keauhou Transfer Station, which is open today until 6:00 p.m.

County Director of Environmental Management Bill Kucharski has previously said you can’t force workers to work if they’re sick.  Department of Environmental Management officials have also said that many workers need to stay home to take care of children.  Kucharski has also said the department needs to move workers to where they are most needed.
