The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Friday morning, June 5, at 8:33 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:   6,703,686   Worldwide deaths:  393,383

U.S. cases: 1,885,197    U.S. deaths:  108,708

The U.S. cases increased by 24,307 yesterday, more than 2,500 cases higher than the day before, and above the rolling 13-day average of around 21,000.  Deaths increased by 1,258, higher than the rolling average of just over 1,000.   Since Memorial Day, people have been out more in groups, especially with the protests over George Floyd’s death and the subsequent looting and rioting.  Health experts are expressing concern over possible increases in the number of cases as days go by.

In Hawaii, our case count is flat and businesses are reopening, albeit with social distancing, mask-wearing, and safe COVID-19 practices in place.
