The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Tuesday morning, June 9, at 6:33 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 7,164,393    Worldwide deaths:  407,818

U.S. cases:  1,965,685    U.S. deaths:  111,194

According to the Dashboard, the United States has added 15,662 cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 504.  Both numbers are lower than the average over the past two weeks.

The United States has the highest case count in the world.  Brazil, with a population of more than 211 million,  has the second highest case count after the United States, with 707,412 cases and 37,134 deaths.

Hawaii’s case count is 675, after adding 20 cases to the count between Friday and Sunday. Most of those cases were on O’ahu.  But there was only one new case reported on Monday, on O’ahu.

Gov. David Ige and health officials have expressed concern about people being exposed to possible COVID-19 infections after large Black Lives Matter demonstrations throughout the state, especially on O’ahu, which has 38 cases still being monitored, according to the State Department of Health’s Monday report.

Hawaii Island has no active cases.  COVID-19 restrictions remain in place on the island as well as throughout the state–social distancing, mask wearing, hygiene–but businesses and restaurants are now reopening.
