Hawaii has added 14 new cases of COVID-19 as of noon today, according to the State Department of Health.  So far, June 1 through 20, the number of cases added in June is 151.   The State has a total of 803 cumulative cases.

Kaua’i added one new case yesterday and 7 new cases today.  Prior to that, Kaua’i had had no new cases for around 2 1/2 months.  Reports are that the 7 new cases are within one household, but State DOH has not confirmed that.

O’ahu added 6 new cases.  Maui added one case.

Hawaii Island still has 2 active cases, with 83 cumulative.

Over the past few days, State Department of Health Director Bruce Anderson and State Epidemiologist said there are clusters now in nursing homes on O’ahu plus household clusters plus a cluster associated with a church group that met in a private home when large gatherings were prohibited, that may have up to 35 victims.  As always, they said all of the clusters reinforce the importance of wearing a mask and staying away from people, especially if infected.  Hand washing is important, as is cleaning surfaces, though transmission is thought to be primarily through airborne droplets.
