The Hawaii Island Food Basket will distribute food today at Ho’okena Elementary School starting at 10 a.m. Anybody who needs the food is invited.
On Friday, food will be distributed at two sites, one in the morning and one in the afternoon: Papa’aloa Community Center (starting at 10 a.m.), and at Honoka’a Sports Complex (starting at 1 p.m.).
Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht asks those coming to have space in their trunk or back seat for the food. National Guard troops and other volunteers will put the food into the vehicles. Frost Albrecht also suggests that bringing a cooler for refrigerated items is a good idea. The food drop will go for two hours or until the food supply is depleted. She says the Food Basket will continue to do the food drops until they’re no longer needed.
