The State Department of Health report as of noon today says there are 42 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing Hawaii to its new cumulative total of 1,200 cases.  Of these, 872 have been released from isolation and are no longer being monitored.

Hawaii Island’s cumulative case count is 100, with 2 new cases added since Friday.  State Department of Health says there are 11 active cases on the Big Island, and according to Hawaii County Civil Defense this morning, one person is hospitalized on the island.

Kaua’i has no new reported cases.  Maui County has 2 new cases, and O’ahu has 38 new cases.

There has been no update, as of noon, on how Governor David Ige plans to reopen the economy in the state.  He and the four county mayors have met over the last several days about the possibility of postponing the August 1 intended date when visitors would no longer have to undergo the 14-day quarantine if they produced a negative COVID-19 report.  As of yesterday, Gov. Ige said he’d not yet decided.  On the mainland, the case counts continue to grow.  In the 24 hours ending at 7:35 a.m. today, there were nearly 70,000 new cases on the mainland.
