Hawaii is continuing its relentless upward trend of new COVID-19 cases–while small in comparison to the mainland United States, the trend is concerning.  Today, there were 21 new cases of COVID-19 reported.  The state’s overall case count is now 1,220 with 890 released from isolation and no longer being monitored.

The new cases:  Hawaii County has added one new case and has, according to State Department of Health, 11 active cases still being monitored.  One person is hospitalized, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.  Maui County added one, and Kaua’i added zero.  O’ahu added 19 new cases since yesterday, but one case was removed from Honolulu’s total count as a result of updated information.

There are still 19 cases in Hawaii residents who are out of state, and no new deaths above the 19 already reported.

Neither State DOH nor Hawaii County Civil Defense has provided detail on where the newest Big Island cases are, but in reviewing the maps provided by State DOH for where the new cases in the last 28 days have been, it looks like the new cases are not in the south part of the island.  Kailua-Kona still has more new cases than do other areas of the island, but there are new cases scattered around the island.

Below are the details provided by Hawaii State DOH:
