UH offers free online ethics lectures through August

University of Hawaii is offering a free, online lecture series focused on ethics, starting Tuesday, July 14 on Zoom.  This is part of the Will Weinstein Conversation Series.  The online Zoom format this year is because of concerns over COVID-19.

Some of the more well-known speakers include  former presidential candidates U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, former California Senator Barbara Boxer, plus local businesses and political leaders.

July 14: Ethics in Capitalism

  • Jay Shidler—founder and managing partner, The Shidler Group
  • Roger Berkowitz—associate professor of politics, philosophy and human rights; academic director, Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College
  • Peter Ho—chairman, president and CEO, Bank of Hawaii
  • John Pritzker—founding partner and director, Geolo Capital

July 21: Ethics in the Boardroom

Sessions are 6–7:30 p.m. HST, and are free and open to the public. Register at shidler.hawaii.edu/weinstein. A link to the Zoom session will be emailed after participants register. Licensed attorneys are eligible for continuing legal education credits.

The series is sponsored by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s William S. Richardson School of Law and Shidler College of Business.

About “Will Weinstein Conversation Series”

Will K. Weinstein is a money manager who has held principal positions at a wide array of firms in the financial industry. This is Weinstein’s 17th summer teaching the course “Integrity and Ethics in the Real World,” at the UH Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law and the Shidler College of Business, introducing special guest speakers to the university and making this learning opportunity available to the public.  Weinstein also teaches at San Francisco State University and gives courses at several other universities.
