US cases at 3.6M, more than 1/4 of world’s, plus 138,784 dead from COVID

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Friday morning, July 17, at 7:35 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 13,888,874      Worldwide deaths: 592,719

U.S. cases: 3,606,927   U.S. deaths: 138,784   

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide cases increased by 250,957 in the last 24 hours, and 7,729 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 73,610  cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 938.    The United States has just over one quarter of all the cases in the world.

Cases in more than 40 states are surging.    Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco, which focuses on medical research as well as patient cars, say that if 80% of the people in the country would wear masks when in public, the pandemic in the U.S. could be slowed.  Click here for that story.
