Hawaii County has closed all east-facing beach parks, effective immediately.  That includes beach parks from Whittington Beach Park in Ka’u to Keokea Beach Park in Kapa’au.

Waipio Valley Road is closed, open now only to residents, land owners, and farmers who have farms in the Valley.

All camping permits anywhere on the island for Saturday or Sunday are suspended.

In other news, Young Brothers has canceled its Saturday sailing to Hilo.

And Hawaiian Airlines is cancelling interisland flights for tomorrow, with some flights between Kona, Hilo, and O’ahu canceled for today.  That detail is here.

The Pride of America, which has been docked at Honolulu Harbor since the start of the pandemic, is moving out to sea.  The Navy has announced it also is moving its ships out to sea, but will bring them back as necessary to help.
