The State Department of Health says 28 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed.   All the new cases are on O’ahu, and State DOH is  recommending that patrons of two O’ahu bars get tested for COVID-19.

Anybody who patronized  Brix & Bones at 1217 Hopaka St. and Arena 808 at 1020 Keeaumoku St. between July 16 to 26 may have been exposed to the virus, according to State Health officials.  There are at least 5 and as many as 12 cases of COVID-19 associated with those bars.

State Health officials have also said they’ve identified 36 people with COVID connected to a funeral service.  They’ve expressed concern in general that people on all islands are not doing the things needed to prevent the spread of COVID.  Maui Mayor Michael Victorino on July 24 asked Gov. David Ige to reinstate the 14-day interisland travel quarantine.  There has been no new announcement about that.

Hawaii County now has only 4 active cases of COVID-19, according to today’s update, with 117 cumulative.  One of those people is in Kona Community Hospital.

The state’s total count now is 1,711, with 1,191 released from isolation and monitoring.  The state’s death toll stands at 26 with no new reported today.

Because of COVID-19, the State Health Lab was closed on Sunday, and labs around the state may not have been open as the state was preparing for Hurricane Douglas, so today’s count may not reflect all the tests done in the last several days.
