The State Department of Health has released a revised update on COVID-19 .  Earlier today, State DOH said their electronic reporting systems were having technical problems.   There are 152 newly-confirmed cases.  The State has 2,914 cumulative cases, with 1,445 active cases.  And the state’s death toll now stands at 29, with the two most recent victims on O’ahu said to be an elderly man and an elderly woman.

Hawaii County has one new case, and 8 active cases.   Maui County added 3 cases today.  Kaua’i had no new cases.  O’ahu, as has been the recent pattern, had the most, with 148 new cases.    O’ahu now has 2,541 cumulative cases with 1,382 active cases.

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Dr. Bruce Anderson said there are 115 people with COVID-19 in O’ahu hospitals, and the number of cases has predicted that by the end of the month, O’ahu’s hospital ICU capacity will be at or exceeded. Governor David Ige is reinstating the interisland travel quarantine for anybody traveling to a neighbor island.

On O’ahu, Mayor Kirk Caldwell is closing all beaches, parks, tennis courts, pools, bowling alleys, miniature golf courses, and more, because of the large gatherings at several of these locations that have caused a surge in cases.  He again reminded people that mask wearing and social distancing are critical to stop the virus.
