US at 5.9M COVID cases, deaths 182,808–Big Island 152 active cases, 17 in hospital

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Sunday, August 30, at 5:28 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:  25,051,178   Worldwide deaths: 843,641

U.S. cases:  5,965,339     U.S. deaths: 182,808

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 250,812 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by more than 5,250.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 33,828 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 739.

Hawaii as of Saturday at noon’s State Department of Health report had 8,139 total COVID-19 cases, with 5,600 active cases that are supposed to be monitored and tracked by the State Department of Health.

The state’s death toll is now 62.

On the Big Island, as of Saturday afternoon:

—279 total cases

—152 active cases

—17 in Hilo Medical Center (4 in ICU, 13 in regular COVID-19 Unit)

–Kona Community Hospital — no Saturday update

–??? at North Hawaii Community Hospital (they won’t say)

Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home:

—23 residents with COVID-19 (3 in the hospital, rest in a COVID area at the Veterans Home)

—8 staff with COVID-19
