Although Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim has said he does not want to institute another islandwide shutdown–despite the more than tripling of COVID-19 cases since August 1–he is planning to close beaches and parks from this Friday, September 4 through Saturday, September 19.

According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, exercising, fishing, food gathering, use of restroom, shower facilities and access to the ocean will continue to be allowed.

The County has not yet provided additional details.
