According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 46,800 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 781.

President Donald Trump’s doctors at Walter Reed Medical Center said he is doing well.  He’s now on both remdesivir and dexamethasone, and when he first tested positive, also had an injection of an experimental mix of monoclonal antibodies created by the drug maker Regeneron.  For more about the treatment from Science Magazine, click here.

His doctors said he has at time at a blood oxygen level below 94%, and has at times been given supplemental oxygen.  They hope to move his treatment to the White House, possibly as soon as Monday.

The state as of Saturday had a total  12,734, with approximately 2,166 active. There have been 153 deaths confirmed by the State.

The Big Island has a total of 795 cases, with approximately 166 active.  Yesterday, Hawaii County Mayor Kim reported there has been a death at Life Care Center of Hilo from COVID-19, bringing the island’s total deaths to 30.  Yesterday, 43 new cases were reported.  Mayor Kim told New West Broadcasting yesterday that the cases were mostly at Life Care Center of Hilo and University of the Nations in Kona.

University of the Nations confirmed Saturday evening that there are 26 cases of COVID-19 among its members.  The religious institution reported that 4 cases were travel related.  It confirmed that 22 people  contracted the virus while ministering to the community, but did not report whether those people had been wearing masks or distancing.    Mayor Kim said Saturday afternoon that he had spoken with Sunawh Park, head of the Campus Leadership Team, and requested that they put the University of the Nations campus, which is on Kuakini Highway across from Coconut Grove Marketplace, on lockdown, and keep everybody on campus until the outbreak has been investigated.  Mayor Kim said Mr. Park agreed.  Everybody on the campus will be retested.

U of N Media Contact Johnny Gillespie said Saturday evening that they were informing everybody on campus and contacting all staff who live off campus in the community to determine who would be allowed to come and go, which would be those providing essential services.  Mayor Kim said Mr. Park had agreed that all food would be brought in.
