The state has announced there are 83 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Hawaii.  As has been the case recently, O’ahu has the most with 67, with Hawaii County following with 14, and Maui County with 2.

The total case count in the state now is 12,937.  There are around 2,248 active cases of COVID-19.

The State is reporting 163 deaths, but that only includes 15 of the Big Island’s 32 deaths.

The Big Island, in adding 14 new cases, now has a total count of 834, with  around 154 active cases.  The biggest recent outbreak is at University of the Nations in Kona, a religious institution that, according to their press release, “equips young people to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in both word and deed, providing healthcare, education, and basic necessities to communities in need around the globe.”  Johnny Gillespie with University of the Nations says 22 of the cases are on campus, and 8 are in staff who live in Kailua Kona.  Four are travel related, they say, and the others contracted while ministering to people in the community.  Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim said on Sunday he wanted to lock down everybody on the campus, and has ordered testing of everybody today.
