The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Tuesday, October 27, at 5:25 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 43,633,558   Worldwide deaths:  1,161,422

U.S. cases: 8,710,703   U.S. deaths:  225,817

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 446,424 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 5,769.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 64,618 cases in the last 24 hours.  The number of new cases reported daily is down from the previous two days.   In the last day,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 535.

Statewide, there are 14,709 total cases, with 3,053 active cases.  The Big Island has 1,230 cases, with 342 active.

The Big Island and Lanai are the source of the latest large clusters.  Lanai has 79 confirmed cases, but over the weekend, more than 1100 of the island’s 3,000 residents were tested, and several hundred results are pending.  On the Big Island, Civil Defense says the current clusters are in living complexes in South Hilo and North Kona.  Health officials say all the clusters are the result of large gatherings, without masks, without distancing.

Gov. David Ige on Monday reinforced that mask wearing is mandatory, no matter what, no matter the group, except inside one’s house with family members.
