The State Department of Health has confirmed 94 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s total to 15,003 with approximately 3,049 active cases.

The state is reporting 216 deaths.

O’ahu has 74 new cases, Maui County has 3 new cases, Kaua’i has 1 new case, and Lanai has 2 new cases.  Moloka’i has no new cases.  There are no new cases reported in Hawaii residents who are out of state.

Lanai has 99 confirmed cases overall.

The Big Island has 14 new cases of COVID-19.  The island’s total is 1,259, with approximately 324 active cases.   Hawaii County Civil Defense says 10 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.

Hawaii County is sponsoring free testing for those on the island.  On Saturday, tomorrow, a spot test, which is not open to the public, is scheduled in North Kona at the La`ilani Apartments.   Monday there is COVID-19 testing at Keauhou Shopping Center from 9 til noon, and at Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium.    No symptoms are needed to get a test, and with 40% of the people with COVID-19 having minor or no symptoms, the County is urging people to get tested.

The State is reporting the island has 31 deaths from COVID, but it’s known there is a lag between the island’s hospitals or care facilities reporting deaths and the State DOH confirming.  Hawaii County Civil Defense today said there have been 40 deaths.  The deaths reported by facilities on the island number 48, as follows:

Kona Community Hospital 4
Hilo Medical Center, deaths from the community 7
Life Care Center of Hilo 10
Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home 27
