The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Tuesday, November 3, at 5:24 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 47,015,234      Worldwide deaths:  1,208,455

U.S. cases: 9,297,353   U.S. deaths:  231,599

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 371,436  in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 6,374.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 84,351 cases in the last 24 hours.  In the last day,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 588.

Marketwatch is reporting that White House Coronavirus Task Force Advisor Dr. Debra Birx says “the U.S. is entering “most deadly phase of this pandemic,”  and  urging “much more aggressive action” and warning that “we are entering the most concerning and most deadly phase of this pandemic … leading to increasing mortality.”

According to CNN, Dr. Birx has now traveled to at least 40 states advising health officials to strengthen their COVID-19 precautions of mask-wearing, having people avoid large gatherings, and emphasizing hand washing.  This comes as the number of new daily cases is at a third peak in the U.S.

However, at this time, the rate of deaths from COVID-19 is lower than at the last peak of the pandemic, back in August, as doctors and hospitals have learned more about how to treat people with COVID-19 who are hospitalized.  In addition, many of the new cases are in younger people who do not tend to get as ill as those over 60.
