As COVID-19 continues to affect our economy as well as the health of more than 1,400 people on the island, Hawaii Food Basket (the island’s only food bank) is continuing its direct distribution of food.

This week, there will be three opportunities for those who need it to get food:

Tuesday at Volcano’s Cooper Center, starting at 10 a.m.

Thursday at Kona’s Old Airport Pavilion (note, this is a new location) starting at 10 a.m.

Friday at Pahoa Community Center, starting at 10 a.m.

Food distribution will go until noon unless the supplies are depleted sooner.

The Food Basket’s volunteers–the National Guard members plus community members–will place the food in your vehicle or in the trunk, so please make room.  Please wear a mask, and stay in the car as the volunteers give you your food box.

Next Wednesday, Nov. 25, the Hawaii Food Basket will distribute food at the Honoka’a Sports Complex and Skate Park starting at 10 a.m.

Hawaii Food Basket is a nonprofit organization that gets its funding from donations from people in the community and grants from both government and private entities.   There is more information about the organization and about how to donate to Hawaii Food Basket at www.hawaiifoodbasket.org
