The State Department of Health reports 108 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 17,501.  Reported at noon today, these are numbers from Monday, Nov. 23, at 11:59 p.m.  Last weekend the State started reporting numbers delayed by 36 hours, as the State CCOVID-19 Joint Information Center says it takes about that long for them to compile and confirm the numbers.

The State is reporting 235 deaths from COVID.

For several weeks, on many days, Hawaii County has had the second highest incidence of new cases, after O’ahu.  That is not the case today.  Today, the Big Island only shows 2 new cases.  The island’s total is now 1,558.   The island has lost 49 people to COVID-19, but the State DOH has only included 32 in the official count so far.

According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, recent tests on Hawaii Island clearly show that the cronavirus spread is due to close gatherings, especially of young people and of families.

O’ahu has 93 new cases, there are 8 new cases in Hawaii residents who are out of state, 5 on Maui, and one new on Kaua’i.  There are no new cases again on Moloka’i or Lana’i.
