The State Department of Health has confirmed 53new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total to 18,661.  These numbers reflect tests processed through Sunday, Dec. 6.  The State numbers now reflect statistics with a two-day delay.

The island of O’ahu has 39 new cases.   Maui has 6 new cases.  There are 3 on Moloka’i and one on Kaua’i.   Lana’i has no new cases.  There are no new cases in Hawaii residents out of state.

Hawaii Island has 5 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the island’s total to 1,652.  There have been 49 deaths on the island from COVID-19, with 43 of them in the state’s official death toll of 262.

Statewide, most new cases are not coming in with visitors.  All travelers must take a pre-travel test.  Today in a briefing by the State House of Representatives, Hawaii Island Representative Richard Onishi said one cause for alarm is the number of Hawaii residents who are returning to the State after traveling to the mainland, and have COVID-19, and then are spreading the virus in the community.  On the Big Island, most cases are thought to be community spread.
