Hawaiʻi County Police See an Increase in DUI Arrests

During the week of February 22, 2021, through March 1, 2021, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 19 motorists with driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Two of the drivers were involved in traffic accidents. None were under the age of 21.

A release from the Hawaiʻi County Police Department says there have been 201 DUI arrests in 2021 compared with 191 during the same period in 2020, an increase of 5.2 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue to be in effect island wide.
