A High Surf Advisory is in effect through Tuesday, March 9, 2021 for north facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala along the Hamakua Coast through Cape Kumukahi in Puna to South Point in Kau.

Large breaking waves of 8 to 10 feet are forecast.  Surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and dangerous currents could cause injury or death.

Due to the High Surf Advisory, the following are issued;

Strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Beaches may be closed without notice.  At this time there are no beach closures.
