flashfloodwatch

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the State of Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi Island now in effect through Friday for the following areas: Kona, Kau, Puna, Hilo, Hamakua and Kohala.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding.

Heavy moisture from the East will bring the potential for Thunderstorms and locally heavy rain for the entire Island.

Due to the Flash Flood Watch, the following are issued:

·        All Residents in flood prone areas are asked to remain alert for flooding conditions and be prepared to take action if a flood warning is issued.

·        Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed without warning due to flooding.

·        Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot; turn around don’t drown.
