The Max and Yetta Karasik Family Foundation, through the Hilo Medical Center Foundation, donated 20 new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Hawai‘i Police Department, which will be distributed to officers island wide.

During a ceremony held in Hilo on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, Ms. Lisa Rantz, Executive Director, and Ms. Ami Lamison, Immediate Past President, represented the Max and Yetta Karasik Family Foundation with their second donation of AEDs to the Hawai‘i Police Department.

The donation included 20 AEDs, training pads, cases and a 4-year maintenance plan, with a combined total value of $34,994.96.  The department received approval from the County Council to accept the donation prior to last week’s ceremony.

The Hilo Medical Center Foundation continues to partner with various donors to perpetuate the “Be a Lifesaver Hawai‘i Program” to help raise awareness for sudden cardiac arrest, help place AEDs into our local community and train people on chest compression only CPR.  More information on the Hilo Medical Center Foundation can be found at https://www.hilomedicalcenterfoundation.org/.
