Hawaiʻi Island police are continuing to ask the public for help identifying persons involved in a break-in that occurred at the Hōlualoa Post Office some time between Saturday July 10, 2021, and Monday July 12, 2021.

At 7:05 a.m. on July 12, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at the Hōlualoa Post Office. Upon arrival, officers determined that unknown persons entered the post office sometime after it closed on Saturday, July 10, and before employees arrived on Monday morning.

Authorities have determined that articles of mail were removed from within the post office.

Detectives from the Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section are conducting preliminary investigations into the incident and are coordinating with the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Residents are encouraged to monitor their upcoming banking and billing statements for fraudulent activity.

Residents who suspect they may be missing mail and/or parcels related to this incident can call the United States Postal Inspection Service toll free: 1-(877) 876-2455 or the local field office at (808) 837-2970 to report any missing items.
