(AP) — The Council on Revenues is raising its forecast for Hawaiʻi’s general fund tax revenues this fiscal year. The council says it expects revenues will rise 6.3% this year. Revenues were predicted in May to increase by 3%. The predictions cite that visitor arrivals will outpace last year and expectations that COVID-19 hospitalizations will fall as more people get vaccinated. Council members say their previous forecast was too conservative. Hawai’i law requires the governor and lawmakers to use the predictions by the Council on Revenues when the state budget is drafted.
